5 Benefits of Ginkgo Biloba

cbd for anxiety

When creating Unity, we didn’t want to make just another CBD beverage. What sets us apart from the competition (aside from our yummy flavors 😜) are the adaptogens that we hand-selected to fortify our beverages. While the adaptogens we use are often overlooked, I assure you, we chose them for their endless benefits. That remains true with Ginkgo Biloba. Just to name a few benefits:

1. Increased Blood Flow - One everyday use of Ginkgo is to increase blood flow. “Ginkgo can increase blood flow by promoting the dilation of blood vessels. This may have applications for the treatment of diseases related to poor circulation” (Hill). By increasing one’s blood flow, it can positively impact heart, eye, and brain health! Which leads me to the next benefit of Ginkgo…

2. Improved Cognitive Function and Mood - By providing your brain with a better supply of healthy blood, it protects your brain cells from damage. This has been linked to “improved thinking and memory, better social behavior, and the better ability to perform everyday tasks” (Nordqvist and Wilson).

3. Reduced risk of cancer - Yep. You read that correctly. “Ginkgo contains high levels of flavonoids and terpenoids, antioxidants that provide protection against oxidative cell damage from harmful free radicals. In this way, antioxidants are believed to help reduce the risk of cancer” (Nordqvist and Wilson). So, in lamens terms: Ginkgo can protect your good cells from getting damaged. Healthy cells = healthy humans.

4. Aids in Anxiety Reduction - Due to the concentration of antioxidants in Ginkgo, and the ability to increase blood flow, it has been said to aid in treating anxiety and depression (Hill). Think of it as helping your body reach homeostasis by providing your cells with more blood that is properly oxygenated.

5. Aids in Depression Treatment - Similarly to the benefits of CBD, Ginkgo aids in treating depression symptoms. “Ginkgo’s anti-inflammatory effects give it the potential to treat depression” (Hill). While depression is not going to be solved over-night, it can’t hurt to give your brain the best fighting chance it’s got.

As you can see by the benefits listed above, Ginkgo Biloba (also known as the maidenhair tree), holds it’s own when it comes to adaptogens. So take a deep breath and a sip of Unity. Your body will thank you! I hope this helped by giving you some insight into why we chose to formulate our beverages with Ginkgo...or at least gives you another reason to love Unity. 😋 Cheers to that!
